About This Test
Chlamydia trachomatis / Neisseria gonorrhoeae (CT/NG) PCR is a molecular (PCR) test used to screen for two common sexually transmitted infections: chlamydia and gonorrhea. It detects the genetic material of the bacteria, making it a reliable way to confirm infection, especially in people with symptoms such as discharge or burning on urination. In this screening set, it is complemented by syphilis testing (RPR quantitative) and hepatitis screening (HBsAg and Anti-HCV) to check for other important infections that may not cause symptoms early. Results should be interpreted by a clinician in the context of symptoms, exposure history, and treatment plan.
