About This Test
Estradiol (E2) is the main estrogen hormone that drives menstrual cycles, bone health, and reproductive function. Levels naturally rise and fall across the cycle and are lower after menopause; men also produce small amounts. Doctors interpret E2 together with LH, FSH, progesterone, and SHBG for a fuller hormone picture. This test is commonly included in targeted check-ups to support early detection and better monitoring.

Morning preferred, but can also be done anytime. For fertility testing, many doctors draw on cycle day 2–5.
