HDL Cholesterol measures the “good” cholesterol that helps clear excess fat from your bloodstream via reverse cholesterol transport. Higher HDL is generally linked to lower heart and stroke risk; results are interpreted with LDL, non-HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and your overall risk profile to guide prevention or treatment. Fasting is preferred for a full lipid profile, but HDL can be measured without fasting when needed.
