About This Test
Human Epididymis Protein 4 (HE4) is a tumor marker that can be elevated in some ovarian cancers. It is often interpreted together with CA-125 and clinical findings, and may be combined into the ROMA score to estimate risk of malignancy in women with an ovarian mass. Non-cancer conditions can also affect levels, so results are read in context with imaging and exam. This test is commonly included in targeted check-ups to support early detection and better monitoring when risk or symptoms are present.
