About This Test
PSA – Total measures the overall level of prostate-specific antigen in your blood. Doctors use it to screen for prostate problems and to monitor known conditions—higher results can occur with benign prostate enlargement, inflammation (prostatitis), or prostate cancer, so it’s not diagnostic by itself and is interpreted with exam and, if needed, further tests.
